Sanju Samson’s First ODI Century Prepares India for a Powerful Total

Together with the cool-headed Tilak Varma, who hit his first ODI fifty with 52 runs off 77 balls, they shared 116 runs for the fourth wicket, a vital stand. India’s partnership not only helped them avoid a dire situation at 101 for 3, but it also put them in a strong position to win the series.
Despite having a difficult start—he hit his first boundary on the 39th ball—Varma contributed to India’s comeback by playing a supporting role. Sadly, he misplayed a sweep off Maharaj, allowing Wiaan Mulder to catch him in the deep, ending his innings.
Known for his hard hitting, Samson admitted that he was feeling a lot of emotion this century. He talked about how the Proteas bowlers were challenging with the new ball and how batting was getting harder as it got older. Notwithstanding the difficulties, Samson and Varma’s collaboration gave India the impetus it required.
In addition, KL Rahul’s 52-run partnership with Samson and Rinku Singh’s brief but outstanding 38 off 27 balls effort reinforced India’s innings. India showed tenacity and resiliency in spite of the Proteas bowlers taking three wickets in the first over.
Prior to Sanju Samson’s First ODI Century, India was under duress from the Proteas bowlers. But the pair’s collaboration and Rahul and Singh’s efforts resulted in a powerful comeback, paving the way for a thrilling series-deciding game.
