Kevin Ford’s Journey of 27 Years at Burger King

Kevin Ford worked at Burger King for 27 years. The former employee purchased his first home with a donation from GoFundMe. The Burger King restaurant in Las Vegas, where Kevin Ford worked, expressed gratitude for his years of hard work and dedication by presenting him with a transparent bag filled with gifts, including movie tickets, a pen, candy, and a coffee cup.

In a video uploaded on Instagram on December 29, Kevin Ford showcased the bag and said, “I wanted to show you something, something that you made possible, something you did for me, just a hard-working man. Now, I know there’s some work to be done in this, get rid of the haters first, I know it’s not a mansion, but it’s mine.” Kevin Ford, who worked at Burger King for 27 years, shared the story of receiving gifts in those days.

“I was happy to get it because I know not everyone gets something. Ford, who worked at Burger King for 27 years, bought his first home and, talking about the gifts he received, told NP3, “I’m glad to have it because I know not everyone gets something.”

A video of Ford accepting gifts went viral among netizens. On the other hand, his daughter Serena collected funds to meet her grandparents. After the video went viral, she launched a GoFundMe fundraiser in the hope of raising enough money.

The GoFundMe page, which belongs to Ford’s daughter, reads, “The man in that video is my father. He has worked there for 27 years, and yes, he has never missed a day of work. He started working at this job as a single father when he received custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago.” She also added in the fundraising page, “My dad continues to work there because although he looks young, his retirement age is approaching, and with his departure, his retirement will end. We are not asking for money in any way or expecting any money, but if someone wants to bless him, they would prefer to meet his grandchildren.”

Thanks to contributions from around 14,700 people, the campaign has raised $445,362. The target has been set at $450,000, and the campaign is still ongoing.

According to the New York Post, Kevin Ford mentioned that the funds raised saved his life. He claimed to have been “depressed” at that time, but now he is eager to meet his grandchildren repeatedly. However, after covering GoFundMe expenses, he gets to keep $350,000 from the raised amount.

Following the widespread online coverage of Ford’s story, NBC’s “Today” planned a live trip to New York for his grandchildren, including a day that he had missed every year due to work.

According to the same source, Kevin Ford is also contributing a part of the GoFundMe fund to his daughter, which was raised to help her and her grandchildren buy a home. While he continues to work at the same Burger King, the remaining funds are being saved for retirement.
