Due to a short circuit issue, Toyota recall one million automobiles from the US market. The Announcement was made on Wednesday that they were recalling the vehicles due to problems in airbag. According to the automaker, an electrical short circuit in the airbag sensor might prevent the airbags from correctly deploying, raising the possibility of injuries during collisions.
Produced between 2020 and 2022, the impacted vehicles comprise a range of automobiles with malfunctioning occupant classification system sensors. The purpose of these sensors is to prevent the deployment of airbags in the event that a child or small adult is occupying the front seat.
The affected models include:
- Avalon or Avalon Hybrid (2020 – 2021)
- Camry or Camry Hybrid (2020 – 2022)
- Corolla (2020 – 2021)
Other Toyota Recall vehicles
- Sienna Hybrid (2021)
- Lexus ES250 (2021)
- Lexus ES300H (2020 – 2022)
- Lexus ES350 (2020 – 2021)
- Lexus RX350 (2020 – 2021)
- RAV4 or RAV4 Hybrid (2020 – 2021)
- Highlander or Highlander Hybrid (2020 – 2021)
In the middle of February, the business plans to begin notifying the impacted owners. Dealers will next examine the recalled cars to see if a sensor replacement is required, and any necessary adjustments will be performed at no cost to the customer.
Toyota is providing a fix for this problem by recalling the impacted cars; the recall is scheduled to begin in February. By entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Toyota’s official website at toyota.com/recall, owners can determine whether their Toyota vehicles are covered by the recall.
Toyota also announced a recall on Wednesday, this time for 12,600 Corolla Cross cars from the 2022–2023 model years, in addition to the problem with the airbag sensors. This recall is connected to one that was previously declared, in which inspections were carried out but problems with the remediation procedure were found.
It is imperative that impacted owners verify if their cars are included in the recall and follow Toyota’s instructions to fix the airbag sensor problem.
